This tin toy reminds me of Babar the Elephant; did you know he first appeared in books in 1931 and was French?
Use the key to wind up the trike and watch the elephant do his amazing trick of spinning balls on his trunk!
Reproduction tin toys have become quite collectable in modern times, as true vintage pieces become harder to find. Our range of metal wind-up and push-along toys look and feel as they would have back in the late 1800s to mid-1900s.
Motorised tin-plate toys began production in Germany in the 1860s, with the most famous producer being Ernst Paul Lehmann, who continued to make tin toys until the 1930s.
